What’s "It’s Nice Out" All About?
Thanks for visiting! It’s Nice Out celebrates all things outdoors. It explores ways to enjoy being outside which:
- Are unexpected and interesting
- Possess aesthetic appeal
- Represent value for money
- Bear relevance to both sexes
- Champion practicality and functionality
- Encourage contentment and well-being
- Enhance health and vitality
- Are aspirational yet attainable
- Consider sustainability and environmental impact
- Do not discriminate
And last but by no means least...
- Where possible, are dog friendly!
It’s Nice Out discovers and shares camp- and glamp-sites, gear, walks, cycling trails and other outdoor activities, food finds, artistic and craft endeavours, music, celebrations and travel, through reviews, how-tos, favourite fives, interviews, competitions and guest contributors, all with an outdoors focus.
Who’s Behind It’s Nice Out?
I’m Philippa Lurcock, a fashion graphic designer with a love of being outdoors, whatever the weather. Having camped and glamped uk-wide, I’m a keen cross-country mountain biker, novice scuba diver, enthusiastic photographer, (W.I. trophy-winning) Victoria sponge baker and basset hound custodian.
I had the idea to create It’s Nice Out when I was looking for product reviews, articles and information about outdoor activities which struck a balance between technical and whimsical. Most things seemed to lean too far one side or the other. It’s Nice Out aims to bridge that gap, with features which champion practicality equally to aesthetic and emotional appeal.
Inspired by Arianna Huffington’s Third Metric movement, where she explores the concept of “Redefining success beyond money and power, to include well-being, wisdom, wonder and our ability to make a difference in the world.” It’s Nice Out seeks to champion these principles, starting with a step outside.
